Also insurance will pay if you hit a deer, but not if you evade it and hit something else. Depending on insurance of course.

More or less. If there is no blood on the hood, it's self inflicted damage, if you land in a tree.

and then worry about it going through your windshield

deer usually don't do that, and even if they do, the windshield is strong enough to protect you, usually.
Moose on the other hand, you are probably better off rolling your vehicle than hitting the moose.

Hooves and antlers have killed several people in my area when they go into the glass they go right though it.

I've missed plenty of deer by swerving, one by braking and never hit a deer or anything else.

Better yet, go into a sideways slide in slow motion, and shoot it with your car rifle!

Novice.

I use a rocket launcher and drift through the explosion, driving away, not even looking back.

If by some chance you decide to swerve always aim for the ass. Because you will never see a deer running backwards.

Especially after it's been hit in the ass by a car!

The word you're looking for is "Brake"

Break it as hard as you can.

All drivers should be taught to NEVER swerve. Yes there are times when swerving will prevent an accident. But it is far better overall to never swerve than it is to risk swerving when you maybe shouldn't.

Swerve is such a bad word. Hollywood has made it look like gripping and ripping the wheel is how you swerve. No. Small bump and correct immediately.

Also, aim for the butt.
