I think that's a bit silly. Braid was a stunning success and he could have probably kickstarted a huge percentage of it, though KickStarter wasn't really around five years ago.

It's not a bit silly. It's bold. It's entirely his. This isn't dumping his fortune into some sort of get richer quick scheme. He's channeling his assets, and the fact that he's willing to do so speaks volumes on the quality that we can expect.

I wouldn't call it a sacrifice, this is how many studios begin. Most brands you know today were funded from the sale of a smaller startup. Often the startup have nothing to do with the brand, it just scored the initial investment. Examples: Yelp, Zappos, and Tesla. All three had their CEO also contribute a significant portion of the initial investment to build the brand.

I really enjoyed the music.
It seemed to fit the art style of the environments quite nicely
