I wouldn't blame this on Wikipedia. I'd say those are accurate definitions based on how society feels about those phrases.

That's not how it's supposed to work. It's not supposed to be "feels before reals". If members of society feel that way about the definition of the phrase they should be able to look up an accurate definition of the word online. They should be able to find the Wiki page and see that they were incorrect and read a correct definition.
