Piracy brought me to comic books. For the first 31 years of my life, I never purchased a single comic book. When I was 32 I began reading pirated comics. I loved them so much I started buying them on Comixology. I still read tons of pirated comics, but the companies wouldn't have sold me any comics if I didn't have the pirated ones to read. I now buy about 10 comics a month ($20) consistently in addition to the pirated comics I voraciously read. I also try to spread my purchases around to different publishers. It's usually not all Marvel, DC, IDW, Archie, etc.
