Hell yes. I only wandered around here for a few months lately. Voat has had a pretty nutty user-base since I started (around the time FPH was banned from reddit). Every time a refugee train unloaded here it was nothing but more /pol/ users and vitriol. I don't mind hearing what they have to say, I welcome it. But when a majority of any opinion dominates a site, it becomes annoying. As a moderate, no one is on my side. I have noticed a lot of buzz about new users/spam and I really don't understand why. I would gauge that at any given time this website might have 1K normal visitors a day. This community is so small, most of us all know each other, and for some reason people that have been around for a long time are making new accounts. No idea why.

Contrary to what others believe - I think voat will never become a big community. A lot of people here are worried about Voat blowing up with numbers, but it just won't happen like that. Voat is a rip-off of reddit. You know what never becomes popular? Blatant rip-offs. 4chan, tumblr, facebook, myspace, and reddit all have 1 thing in common - they're unoriginal ideas packaged in a seems to be original format.

I dunno dood. Facebook seems pretty fuckin popular for being blatantly unoriginal. Ya know what really never does become popular? The original. Nobody ever appreciates version 1.0. It always sucks and is always overshadowed by the newer versions and facsimiles. I think voat will become popular someday. I think that because it has simple yet drastic improvements on its predecessors. Things like the CCP restrictions for example.

We can agree to disagree. The format of voat, while basic, I feel wouldn't catch the younger crowd (which really seems to determine what becomes popular). Not to mention the userbase here would definitely drive off the younger, often times more liberal crowd.

As a fellow moderate I agree entirely, I'm so exhausted of extreme polarization and hate from both sides. Here it's the far right bullying "who can be the most offensive" dick-measuring-contest culture and on Reddit it's the neoliberal corporate shit, censorship of difficult subjects, and heavy shilling.

You need a safe space

This is because the silent majority (which is moderate) are typically spending their time becoming successful while the extreme right and left are typically very unsuccessful. Thus they spend a huge amount of time screaming how the system is rigged against them.

Some of the crap people claim to actually believe is so absurd that I really can't imagine them as anything other than basement dwellers who dream of being edgy.

I'm thinking of taking a break until the pizza gate stuff settles down. I don't mind voat looking into that case, but the occult info posts - regardless of providing "motive" - and the "OMG the pedo symbols are on my cereal box" boogie-man posts will destroy the efforts of people actually trying to find evidence of crime.

But actually I was wondering about the servers slower update intervals and other page performance experiences that have really changed recently and are not always clearly announced or explained by admin ;-)

Yeah, this place is strange, but so is the rest of the world. I blocked pizza gate months ago though.

pizzagate is being taken care of by far more capable people, the clowns here seem to be little more than damage control

I have found the circlejerk of Voat to be growing more extreme and I have found myself posting comments contrary to it lately. I have been getting a mish mash of upvotes and downvotes for it. It's not that I am posting things just to go against the going view. I just look at things in a little more moderate way

Extremists dominate in trends. The pendulum is swinging to the right now because people are fed up with the left, then it will swing back. Hold to the center, think for yourself.
