I'm mostly interested in the fourth question here... are you working remotely? Rich kid? Won the lottery? Working odd-jobs as you travel?

Interesting AMA, Internet connectivity issues abound around the world. I blame the Illuminati.

Be safe out there guy.

Cleanest bathrooms in Norway 🇳🇴

Most beautiful women in Senegal 🇸🇳

I use public transportation wherever possible and have been on 9 container ships in addition to that.

The project was sponsored between October 10th 2013 and March 2016 by Ross Offshore. Since then it has been self funded and that isn't going to work much longer. So either a new sponsorship or crowdfunding...

How do you get money for all the travel if i may ask

[–] onceuponasaga [S] 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Hi, sure - The project budget of $20/day covers transport, meals, accommodation and visas. It is meant as an average over the entire journey. In some countries I'm above while in other countries I'm below. My current overall average is slightly above but so far I have covered most of the expensive countries. I see it coming down and believe that the budget will stick (more or less). It was sponsored by Ross Offshore until March 2016: http://www.rossoffshore.no

Since then it has been self funded and I'm running out. If I do not succeed to find a new sponsor then I'll try crowdfunding.

I met a guy from Switzerland who has been doing what OP has desrcribes for the past 5 years.

He had a college degree and taught geography for a while, and he lived with parents and just accumulated money. Now he hasnt been in his home country in 5 years but he plans on returning next year.

I can tell you that he lives very cheaply, he buys shitty vehicles, sleeps in them, then sells them whwt he no longer lives in that country.

He was a pretty cool dude, he also has a girlfrirnd (also swiss) who he managed to get her to tag along. She works at a pharmacy in their country.

How will you handle the issue of "mutually exclusive" countries? Like, e.g., Israel being VERY reluctant to allow entry to people who visited Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia or Iran, and vice-versa?

Great question👍 It's about being tactical with where you go first. I also have 2 passports and I'm currently using my 7th passport since I left home. I can apply for new passports at embassies around the world.

While visiting e.g. Israel I can request that they do not stamp my passport. They often stamp a piece of paper instead.

But you're right in your observation! It's not always straight forward.

Multiple passports maybe? Use one for one set of countries and the other for the other set? I have no idea if that actually works but it's the first thing that comes to mind.

How does one fund an undertaking like this? Do you have sponsors? Or possibly were you born wealthy and able to do this simply by virtue of having money? As I struggle just to survive my life month by month and struggle with money, I just want to know how someone can afford to do something like this, especially for 1,099 days. How do you pay your bills? Do you maintain a residence or apartment somewhere while you do this? Do you have kids? If so, are they travelling with you? Do you have a girlfriend? If you do, how does she feel about your travels? If not, have you met anyone while travelling and possibly hooked up? Also, which nation has the best weed to smoke?

3x years at $20 a day is not that much. $21k total. I was able to save $10k in 6 months with a near minimum wage job when I lived in the states and I used that money to travel to Europe and try to live semi travellor bohemian lifestyle for a couple months (which was waste of time and money really) and eventually settle down in Europe (which I should have done in the first place but it's a lesson learned). If you're determined enough it's not too difficult to save enough money and take some risks as long as you also make some contingency plans if you fail. After I saved and left US for Europe I was still paying my rent in US basically flushing money but having that contingency was worth it to me in case I failed. My risk was rewarded in the end after some hard knocks.

Hi there, this project has 5 sponsors. Although Ross Offshore, the financial sponsor, had to pull out in March this year due to their sensitivity towards the oil prices.

The project budget of $20/day covers transport, meals, accommodation and visas. It is meant as an average over the entire journey. In some countries I'm above while in other countries I'm below. My current overall average is slightly above but so far I have covered most of the expensive countries. I see it coming down and believe that the budget will stick (more or less). As I mentioned it was sponsored by Ross Offshore. http://www.rossoffshore.no

Since April it has been self funded but I'm almost out of money now and need a new sponsor or try crowdfunding.

I have an apartment back home. It's been rented out.

I also have a girlfriend who supports me massively. She's been out to see me 9 times and is planing a 10th visit soon. She misses me though and prefers to have me back home.

You'll probably find the best weed in Morocco. They're famous for it. Even the Rolling Stones went there for it...

Hi, I too wish that you can find opportunity to see more of the world.

It took 10 months to plan this project. I organized the routing, budget, media strategy etc. Arranged for sponsors and partners. And I had to sacrifice much as well.

I have met with governors, senators, presidents, royalty, celebrities and artists but most commonly I meet the ordinary people of the world of which there are most.

This project offers much to those who follow and has been in the media in more than 60 countries around the world.

Personally I have expanded my understanding of the world, culture, religion, people and geopolitical topics.

Because of my work the Red Cross has received more volunteers and more donations.

Good luck 🍀

India is the best place to start new. Its so easy to pay off doctors. Just get them to declare you on a death certificate then find a document forger for a new passport, ID and birth certificate. Then work on a simple but solid background story and remember to never contact anyone from your old life. Usually best never to return to your original country of origin.

Where can i see the list of countries you visited? Is there at least 1 video of every country you visited so far?

[–] onceuponasaga [S] 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Hi there, I haven't been big on video so far. But it's growing...in any case there isn't video from every country.

I'm more a "pictures and words" kind of guy although there is a YouTube channel.

The complete list is here (203 countries) http://www.onceuponasaga.dk/journey

To bad. Would be a perfect opportunity to talk about a country, what you did there, what you like and dislike in a neat little video blog.

Also having that list is nice but it would be even better if i could click the name of a country there and it takes me to everything about what you did there (pictures, words whatever). Create some links is what im saying.
