I changed my number, quit my job where I was able to walk outside turn a corner and score, gave my bank account control to my family so I can't go get money, and I stay at home a lot now.

I don't want to say you are wrong, but it can go away. In my early 20's I had a problem with booze and had dabbled in Meth. I dropped meth fairly easily. I still had the desire to do it for years but it's completely gone now. I throttled back my drinking, though I still would get way too drunk when in social situations. I just stopped the casual every day drinking. In my late 20's I stopped getting drunk and just have the odd beer at poker games and such. I actually hate even being buzzed now.

I know I sound preachy but you can take control of it. For me, I had to confront the demons I was running from. Once I did, I didn't feel the need to be in a haze all the time.

I will admit I still smoke pot fairly regularly. I honestly don't believe it has a negative effect on my life. Overall, I believe it is actually a positive. But that's just me and my friends and family may take umbrage with that position.

But good on you for taking control of your life! Most don't even try.

I used to smoke a bunch of pot. I still would. I have a job with a good company that does randoms so I can't.

The whole time I smoked pot I wouldn't really drink. Now and then get shit housed with friends and what not, but if I had smoke and could smoke I was fine. Didn't really care or need regular boozing.

So my rambling point I guess is, what happens if you can no longer smoke?

Same here with booze. Had a big drinking problem in my early twenties, caused me to nearly get expelled from college, now I have a beer with dinner, I'll get mildly drunk on special occasions a few times a year. Friends actually consider me a light weight now that my tolerance is gone, ironic cause I used to have the highest tolerance of anyone back when I treated drinking like an Olympic sport. Spent more time wet than Michael Phelps.

I never had any issues with E. Used to do it back in the day at crazy huge raves. I'd do it there and not touch it again until the next rave. I guess because I kept it part of the scene, and I left that scene behind, I never got the habit.

Do you go to meetings, or are you doing this on your own? What was the moment that made you realize you had to try and change?

Every Tuesday Thursday I go to NA just to listen to stories about where drugs lead others. Listening to some of the dark stories helps me not want to use again. I was up to a gram if not more a day and I just knew in my heart I was going to die. My body started feeling awful I felt like I was shutting down.

Gotta live life one step at a time. I will always be an addict even though I've been sober for almost 50 days. I have an addictive personality and I always will. I realize this now and try to stay away from anything that has the potential to be abused
