How has loadshedding affected you? Where is the best place to get biltong?

It's more of a terrible nuisance to me than anything else. It doesn't have a major negative impact on my life but it's boring. That's the biggest negative of loadshedding. It is so utterly boring sitting in the darkness and waiting for the electricity to come back on.

Best place to get biltong? Almost anywhere tbh. I like the garages/convenience stores.

How is it going there after Mr. Mandela passing? Are you guys still talking about him, is the spirit of his legacy still there?

We still talk about him. I'm sure he will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in many ways. A lot of people vote for the political party that's currently in control of the country (the ANC) because they believe they owe it to Nelson Mandela since he was a member. I personally beg to differ strongly. I feel that electing a party based on who's policies one thinks are most beneficial towards the country is the best way to keep his legacy alive. He would want what was best for this country.

Were you alive during Apartheid?

No. Sorry.

How did it affect you/your family?

There are people who will hate me because I'm white. I don't really care though since I'm not regularly exposed to those kinds of people. My grandparents and that generation still seem to be extremely racist. I feel that this is because they have not been exposed a great deal to people of other races and haven't developed a strong sense of empathy towards them.

How many languages do you speak and which ones?

Sorry. Only English. I feel very guilty about this and I'd do something about it but I'm severely depressed and it's difficult for me to get out of bed in the morning, nevermind learn another language.

How do you feel about Trevor Noah?

He's a good comedian. He seems like a good person. I'm happy to have him representing the country. He deserves all the success in the world.

I know nothing about Africa. Where are you from? What's it like there?

Where are you from?

I live just outside of Johannesburg, a major African business hub. I live in a suburb.

What's it like there?

Where I am it's quite alright. I have plans to move as there are no opportunities here for someone who pursues the career that I desire. The internet isn't really first-class and the electricity providers have so many problems that we experience planned power cuts (we call it loadshedding) multiple times a week. There aren't any major problems that directly affect me here but a lot of annoying inconveniences. A lot of the urban culture is annoying. It's like a third-rate version of American pop culture. It's awful.

Where do you plan on moving and what field are you going in?
