How did you learn to take responsibility for your actions and how did you learn to accept yourself for who you are?

Taking responsibility for my actions is one of the hardest things I've done. It's an ongoing process. As far as accepting myself I'm still working hard to separate the addict from who I am. All I can say is it's fucking hard. I started using when I was 16. That's a lot of years of addictive behaviour. It takes a long time to break that pattern.
Reaching out on Voat has really helped me.
