So, I couldn't wait longer to discuss this. What happens when people I know in real life couldn't care for horror.
Two episodes, the length of one movie, already is shaping up to be my favourite show airing. Mimi Driver owned as suspiciously evil deadite, complete with blood dripping down her face. The continued lines "Thanks for the heads up." "Why don't you take off your gun, and place it next to your chainsaw limb" (all the lines about whales, and bait). "I hate what did this." "That was my take away too." "You're kind of like me. They destroyed your life, and you're young, and hot as hell" "Maybe you're hunting the wrong deer" "I was sharpening it for you" "This is a friend from work. And this is a man I never thought would be in my home". I may be paraphrasing some lines, and there are more that I need to rewatch the episode to get properly, as even the ones I butchered were better transcribed then those. There was also a great throwback to the mockingbird nursery song, as well as the windmill using the weather vane. Caught some of the behind the scenes this time. I completely agree, they went all out with the gore as a sort of "this is what this series will be". The knife in the eyeball. The entire fight in the bedroom, complete with knife in the head, and chainsaw through the gut.All the blood, including the roast beef. Just Ash sticking the bottle into the neck.
Also, if anyone wants to talk about the nature of episode discussions, feel free to do so here, or in the sticky.

I am enjoying it so far. My one gripe is the obvious CG blood/gore. I really wish they had gone back to their roots, and used even more practical effects. I understand that this is a TV show though, on a schedule, and a budget, and they probably don't have time to do everything practically. Or maybe they do have the time, and they are just slacking. I'd like to believe it's the former.
I just think it's a shame because the original films had some creative practical effects, and camera work.

And yet, they still take their star, and poor fake blood into their face to the point where it is joked about by the showrunner. I am just pleased as pie that they do the amount of practical effects they do. Then again, the whole reason why the transition to the title card was so obvious CGI was that it just came off a scene with great practical effects. EDIT: Or like the chainsaw through the gut, it was followed by some great practical effects. (I may be rewatching it right now).
Side note: I swear the reason why horror flicks from the 80s are so good is that they were building of years of practical effects.

I really wish the episodes were longer. This show really has me by the balls wanting more.

I would rather it leave me wanting more, then running a bit too long. But it also is going to make a rewatch of the season shorter for when the second season airs faster ... I can't even keep that going. More cheesy Evil Dead is always what is needed.
