Archived How did you get started? (Homestead)
submitted 5.5 years ago by noscale
I'm currently looking long term at buying some land and building a home for myself and my girlfriend. I work in the construction field so I know plenty about building and construction but doing it with limited tools and man power seems like a whole different job.
So where should I begin. I've read a few books on building and woodworking. I plan on doing this in about 5 years when I have more cash and I will have the option to work from home pretty much anywhere in the country.

One then the other really. I'm already in the construction field but I don't deal with residential at all.
As far as the homestead portion, I'd be wanting to start that as soon as I bought the land then build the house later in the process.
