I still don't understand how they're able to stand on those logs so easily. Does anyone have an eli5 explanation?

Balance, practice and the stick that they are holding has a spike on the end of it so that they can use other logs for stability. Not only do the logs bob up and down but they also spin so it is definitely an acquired skill. I worked at a pioneer village in high school that had a water driven saw mill so we had a pond full of logs to feed the mill. I had to get out there and walk the logs and feed them into the mill. It takes a while to get used to it and you end up in the water many times before you do, but eventually most people learn how to.

So it is as tough as it looks, there's no well-kept secret in the shoes or something? Or are you just not allowed to say? If they're holding you captive, blink twice
