This excuse is so fucking stupid. The kids didn't demand bicycle helmets or trophies for participation it was their fag parents who did that shit.

Boomers love to blame the state of their kids on anyone but themselves. They blame the school teachers, the lawmakers, society, anyone but mom and pop.

Wrong. Charlie Brown should have just answered "jews."

It wasn’t the trophies. I played a lot of sports as a kid and no one ever felt any validation from a cheap piece of plastic. It was and continues to be the unceasing stream of media subversion.

I was riding my bike home from a friends house after swimming there at the age of 9.. with my towel draped over the handlebars. Then I woke up in an ambulance. What had happened was the towel got caught in the wheel and brought the bike to a sudden abrupt stop and I flew over the handlebars and was knocked out cold when my head hit the sidewalk.
This was during the start of the bike helmet craze in the early 90s, so of course my parents insisted on me wearing one. I threw that damn thing in the garbage and said I just ain't gonna put my towel on the handlebars anymore. I knew that if I were to be seen wearing one, there would be much ridicule from the other kids.. since helmet wearing was not a normal thing yet.. But it was starting to catch on unfortunately.
Now, all of the kids are wearing them. What a shame.

Imo good padded gloves are going to do you better on a bicycle than a quarter helmet. That'll let you use your hands to take the fall. If you're going to use a helmet, don't be dumb douche and use an actual helmet.

a bad fall could still result in head injury. Helmets are a good idea, and being a stupid boomer and blaming safety equipment for the state of their kids is laughable.

I think the trophies came before the helmets.
