I soak the sliced liver in whole milk overnight then I pat it dry and pan fry it in animal fat. I cook it medium rare and only flip it once. I like caramelized onions with it so I cook those separately
Never eaten liver, i always leave it for the scavengers. I plan on giving it a try this year. Ill cook up a deer liver in some bear fat, see how that goes.
When I used to hunt we would always cook the heart and liver on the spot as soon as we field dressed the deer. We used to carry a bit of fat, onion, and a thick piece of layered foil. Was a tradition for us back then.
