No joke, in the early 2000s there were PSAs about not using "gay" as a negative... as in, "that's so gay". The commercial literally used people's names to show how fucked up it was to say something was gay.... as in, "that's so erica". The PSA slogan was, "imagine if who you were was an insult"

The same people that pushed that shit on us now literally use people's names as an insult.

Do you think a "Laqueesha" or "Tyrone" meme would go over as well... funny how that would be racist, calling shit gay is offensive, but Karen can fuck off.

There were more PSA's. I remember the one about the word retarded:

"Don't call things retarded kids, the special kids will be offended. How would that make us feel? Well kids, how would you feel if someone said...."

It went on, I'll spare you. Just pointing it out. This is the operation. "How does that make you feel?" It boiled down to feelings.
