Sun Tzu was talking of nations having to deal with their countryside being pillaged regularly. The worse we get is a guy shouting Aloha Snackbar once in a while and killing a few people. Prolonged war is digustingly profitable.

It's not, though. You have loads of capable, young men away from the workforce, burning away tax money for no gain.

He was not talking about the countryside being pillaged, no. He was talking about the winning side just as much as the losing side. I don't think a single Vietcong ever attacked American soil, yet the Vietnam war was a massive loss by all accounts.

We don't need 90+% of the population working the fields anymore. In this day and era we invent bullshit jobs just to keep the economy from collapsing. Whether these jobs be dropping bombs on brown people or jailing people over a plant. The economy would implode if money wasn't being recirculated via bullshit jobs. Now there are better ways to recirculate that money than perpetual war, but I'm just saying that thanks to technology it is sustainable.

Greece, Persis, Rome, the USA, the Mongols.

As long as you keep warring, you're usually doing pretty good. It's when you stop that things fall apart.

Though I agree, when you're 3rd world country gets attacked by the world power, it doesn't end well for the little guy

War is profitable for those at the top in control, but not for the nation as a whole.

"We"? You can only speak for yourself.

Take wisdom where you can find it.
