No, I don't necessarily agree that every man is the sculptor of his own mind. Sculptor connotes someone who's taking an active role in the shaping, not some clueless lump who's just sitting back and being shaped. People by default will be passively sculpted by other forces if they don't choose to assertively sculpt themselves, so yes it's a matter of how much influence they allow from others, but being completely susceptible to others' influence doesn't originate from a conscious/assertive act of self-sculpting.
