What an amazing song title, I'm just slightly disappointed that it's not about killing Arabs in general.

That's gotta be my favorite song by The Cure.

Camus was one of the only French intellectuals at the time who condemned violence on both sides of the French-Algerian conflict. Everyone on the right supported French violence and everybody on the left supported Arab violence. The Stranger was based on his idea that the only time killing can be guilt-free is when a man does it without premeditation.

Now that's interesting. I know he lived in Algiers for a while, but I never interpreted The Stranger as anything but a philosophical work.

Intellectuals sure have changed a lot since then.
