That's funny! Have you ever heard of compartmentalization? Cover ops? The idea that whoever you asked would know the truth or that they would even tell you shows that you don't get how things are done in military/intel.

What???

Compartmentalization is standard procedure in the military and big business. Cover stories are often required to explain what would otherwise lead to exposure of secrets. Secrecy is standard protocol when dealing with sensitive information/activities.

A person who's involved in something that's being kept secret is often not even aware that what they're involved in is what it appears to be. They're given a cover story and usually made to sign an NDA as well. Nothing unusual about this at all these days.

Don't pretend you know better than me. You obviously don't.
