This is so easy to solve if this is the issue they want to sit on (instead of the obvious). There is NO reason kids need to see/hear each other in a virtual classroom - only the teacher. I've been in plenty of hosted virtual meetings where the only person seen is the host. All the participants don't see each other and are muted unless the host un-mutes them. This should apply here too.
School systems belong in the public domain. There should be total transparency about the lessons taught. As a homeschool parent - we have to submit a lesson plan to our umbrella organization on what we intend to teach. The exact same should apply here and parents should be demanding it from the rooftops
