The reason the current death rate is at 2% is because it doesn't account for the people who have it or have already caught it, thought it was a cold or flu, brushed it off and never went to the doctor. And by the way, THOSE PEOPLE WILL BE IN THE MAJORITY because it would affect them no differently than the common cold or flu and they wouldn't know the difference. And lots of people won't go to the doctor for that shit because it's a waste of time and money. Because they can't do anything about it except tell you to rest, eat, get fluids. I don't need to pay someone to tell me that. And lots of people see it the same way as I do. And I have health insurance even.
I get the flu maybe once a year, if even that. This year, I got the flu and then about a month ago got some kind of weird cold I've never had before. Basically flu like symptoms without the fever. I thought it might have been bronchitis, but who fucking knows. Also, it kinda doesn't matter because I'm fine now.
I might have had the fucking coronavirus for all you or me know.
Listen, the problem is that there isn't a vaccine for it and if it spreads, it could kill off a substantial amount of elderly people, immuno-compromised folks, or very young kids. Yeah I know "vaccines are poison." I'm not trying to have that debate. I do believe vaccines work. I also believe that the illuminati or whoever may also use them to inject bad shit. Both can be true at the same time, but that possibility never gets considered in groups like this (which is a shame).
Back to it...the people in here who love to claim (and rightfully so) that the media lies are also the same people who ironically believe the media when they pretend that this thing is like airborne AIDS or Ebola. It simply isn't. But their ability to instill that fear in you is a real thing, and it's being used to try to hurt Trump via the economy and and public opinion. And if you're as woke as you like to think you are, then you should already be wise to the media's bullshit at this point.
And if it were a fucking bioweapon, it's a very shitty one. Which demonstrates that it's not a bioweapon. Because a real bioweapon would have a 70% mortality rate at the least.
Just fucking chill. Realize that they put out a scare like this every two to four years. Look at the timeline and you'll see I'm right.
Wash your hands, don't sneeze on old people and babies, and all will be good.
And FFS, stop letting the lying ass media manipulate you.

Makes me wonder what that horrible lung issue and coughing was that I had last year. No fever, just lung pain and coughing and weakness when doing strenuous activity.

i'd like to reiterate
by your logic the 2% death rate is inflated because the number of cases is much higher then reported. Running with this we can say the same about the death rate for the flu, since the number of cases are also probably under reported as well (not everyone goes to the doctor whenever they get the flu). By this logic the Corona Virus is still killing way more people than the flu does

The number for the regular flu contractions is also higher because it's more common. But understand, raw numbers aren't helpful here, only percentages. If you're missing a huge chunk of the denominator for corona, then the percentage is going to be way off and appear scarier than it really is. The fact that Chinese medical care sucks isn't helpful either. Many of those people would recover with adequate medical care, which China doesn't have.
If they knew of all the cases which were unreported and the people recovered and moved on with their lives, the rate would be much lower. Speculating on how many cases that is and to what degree the percentage drops is something I don't think any of us are equipped to do accurately, but suffice it to say the point remains.
But hey, if you're really adamant about your fear porn, don't let me stop you.

2% of reported cases is still huge
only 0.02% of reported flue cases result in death
what about the 20% of people that required intensive care. do you think our hospitals will be able to handle that workload
what about the reports of reinfection? if this can reinfect multiple times it will kill more people, that makes it the perfect boiweapon - not that i am even claiming that this is a boiweapon, but rather it is a disease that does need to be addressed.
and i'm glad you get better from the flu all the time, but this is simply not the flu. it's like a hyper pneumonia. Where pneumonia is a serious infection in one area of the lung, this causes total inflammation of the lungs - which is much harder too deal with.
i'm not freaking out, i've been processing as much info about this that i can and working on being ready as possible, i don't consume the mainstream media. And i would not just brush this off.
Just because things have always been fine doesn't mean things will always be fine for forever and acting as such is not smart.

You're just having a problem understanding how those unreported cases affect the math. I've explained as best I can. I think it's pretty simple and should be fairly eye opening to you.
This is something that was pointed out by three medical professionals in my family. Plus it just makes logical sense. If 10 people get tested and have it, and two of them die then yeah that's 20 percent. But if there are actually 1,000 cases of young and middle age adults who contracted it and mistook it for the regular flu or a cold, didn't go to the dr. And get tested, and then recovered, they don't get added to the stats. But if they're added to the stats, 2/10 suddenly becomes 2/1,010. Quite a different percentage.
I'm not brushing it off, either. I already acknowledged the danger to babies and old folks. I'm simply saying that it's not what the media is making it out to be. Which is basically an airborne version of AIDS or Ebola.
And yes, the economy is a concern since China is a huge trading partner. I actually think the economic danger is greater than anything else if I'm being honest. Though I also think it will pass. Just like bird flu, swine flu, H1N1, and every other sensationalized disease they've been peddling over the last decade and a half. I'd think that because we've all seen the media cry wolf so many times at this point, and because of the type of group this is, we'd be more on point about what's really going on here.
But if you like walking around and living your life in unnecessary fear, then by all means have at it.

Way to "punch" a "hole" to the meat of the matter patriot. It is all about fear.
God bless and stay safe.
