Thanks for posting--was wondering and hadn't seen it. Another symbolic, yet empty, gesture. As for Matt Gaetz, he tweets: 1) It didn’t criticize POTUS or his policies. Not once.
(2) It outlined the threat Iran poses and our right to self defense (not excluding preemptive strike).
(3) Only Congress has the power to declare war. Article I, sec (8).

Doesn't matter what his so-called intentions were. People are pissed off at him, his constituents are pisses and he's now being used as propaganda against PDJT.
Dumb move. His explanation on the Tulsi Carlson show didn't help either. Also, he admitted on the Tulsi show that PDJT didn't want him to vote for it but he did it anyway. He's a pariah right now.
So did Gaetz help shape it so its watered down by telling the Dems he will vote for it if X was added/changed? I'm still a bit confused why he would vote for this. He is one of the stronger Trump supporters - at least I thought so until I saw he voted for this.(Sorry, it's been a tough day for me so not thinking as clearly)
Actually, I think it is a valid measure. This appears to have something to do with Soleimani but it doesn't. It is actually a measure against the Deep State/CIA and false flag actions, though of course they haven't stated it as such. Consider this though--Presidents since Reagan (that I can think of) have steadily eroded the Congressional right to declare war. This is something I personally have been bitching about for decades. This measure theoretically restores that power to Congress, which is a good thing. And as Gaetz explained it on Tucker Carlson, it is a check against a Pro-War cabinet and pro-War Pentagon all of whom put forces on the President. So, looking at it another way, so long as the President isn't a hawk, this actually helps to alleviate the pressures that DS operatives put on the President.

Trump called Bush a war criminal. And then won.
And:
The Resolution doesn’t include Soleimani’s name.
It includes no criticism of
@realDonaldTrump
or his policies.
My amendment made sure of it.

It doesn't have to criticize POTUS. It's just another lame power grab that will gain them nothing when it inevitably fails.

Yeah, it doesn't have any teeth. Agree/
