Meh, those out in the bone-dry wildfire areas have been advised for decades to establish a 100' layered defensive zone around their home. Idiots ignore this most excellent advice, then claim to be victims. California wildfires have happened in the dry season for centuries.

Not like in recent years. Something is different ever since the town of Weed burned to the ground within a matter of minutes some years back. These are not natural wild fires.

Yes, more have moved into danger, forests have been prevented from self-regulating, and more than I can cover on my phone. Recent article in the Atlantic listed some of the changes that's resulted in more damage and death. My fire danger in California is near zero due to my coastal location.
