If we must pay taxes, I'd prefer it to be on things we buy vs my income.

If the goods were flat taxed for example, then every illegal would at least be forced into paying some taxes...

I live in a "tax free state" ie "tariff state"... We don't pay state taxes, except the 3% fee on just about everything that "isn't a tax" but "goes to the state"...

In lieu of the ;) taxes, we instead pay 3x as much for everything... Plus the obligatory 3% "not a tax, tax"...

The locals get pissy when I point it out.

I agree - a consumption-based tax. A billionaire who chooses to live frugally would be taxed less, and illegals and homeless would contribute.

The problem is that (((they))) don't like us to hold onto our money. Hence, the emphasis on income taxation.

Its not about a fair or efficient system. Its about reinforcing the fact that they OWN YOU. They own 100% of your labor, they just decide (for now) to not take it all.

Not worried about taxes personally. What I really want at zero is all legal and illegal immigration. That and deportations will solve so, so many ills.

Honestly if income tax were off the table, these socialists wouldn't have any money to fund their immigration and welfare programs, so the problem likely wouldn't exist.

I think things would be radically different, and for the better, but I know I would have much greater peace of mind, in the event that immigration is still at factor, that we weren't being forced to fund our own genocide through welfare supported demographic displacement.

Illegal immigration is bad but legal immigration may be more of a problem. Legal immigrants come in in numbers equal to illegals and are taking high wage jobs away from American workers....and they're not leaving! Illegals just need to be squeezed out of society with the mentioned financial incentives eliminated, border control, etc... Things that are happening. Legal immigrants are being welcomed by both parties, and they want more, more and more.

If we keep giving them free stuff, they’ll just keep on coming. Remove the incentive.

The government doesn't build roads, private contractors do.

The gov is just a shitty middle man for all of those services.

Right? It isn't even legal and it serves no purpose whatsoever, other than make people believe in this all-powerful entity, the government. Sigh.

Poor no longer means poor. The poor today have luxury goods which the poor of 50 years ago could only dream.

Poor in America, by global standards, are wealthy.

Poor is now a relative term and no longer means destitute.

Our tax bracket did not get intended tax relief because key itemizations were altered at the same time. It no longer benefits us to itemize, yet our expenses that we used to itemize remain. We actually increase taxes even at the 15% level. Medical, other taxes, & charitable are not all exempt now. Anyone else have that effect? There needs to be a lower tax than 15% for those income brackets. It's a shame if generous middle incomers pay more in a tax cut effort. I DO like not having to save receipts & itemize for a tax break, especially as we are now senior citizens.

Just simplifying the tax code would be a massive improvement.
