the God of the Hebrew Scriptures forgave Manasseh and David. Their list of sins and crimes were pretty extensive! Even King Solomon who some feel became an apostate in his older years! Yet Jesus referenced him in a positive light. That being said, Jesus held out pretty strict judgement for the rabbis who hurt other people with their judgement and self righteousness and their worship of the devil.

Repentance is essential for forgiveness in the biblical sense.

Wow, excellent old Testament reference to the nature of God. I had forgotten his wrath on those in the house of God who hurt others.

he judges our hearts.

He is a good kind loving God but he is a just God. There will be justice.

I am grateful that when i stand before God on judgement day, I will also be standing next to Jesus. and I will say i am guilty but Jesus paid the price for my sins and my sins are washed away.
