Cardiac arrest simply means there is no pulse. It doesn't necessarily imply a myocardial infarction or in layman's terms, a heart attack.

Cardiac arrest just means heart stops breathing. Doesn't mean active heart attack. If they had no idea how long he had been down, starting CPR is not unreasonable.
