Well, NOTHING in D.C. is beholden to The People like was meant by the original U.S. Constitution. It was made an independent city-state, so Mulvaney's decision is the correct one. NONE of our Fed offices should be located in that shithole swamp.

I think it is necessary to move the entire Fed Govt out of the Satsnic DC and build a New Capitol in another state. Maybe the Midwest. The whole city of DC is laid out in a Pentagram. The buildings and Statues are all Roman. The Statues are all Pagan Gods (Demons). There are tunnels under everything with God knows what going on in them. Nothing good can be built upon that land except parks and museums. DC is the arisen Roman Empire.
Some place, some where, there is a whole government complex located underground curtesy of Continuity in Government program. My location bet, the Denver International Airport, lots of Satanic symbolism there.
The inability to fire for cause or corruption is the biggest problem facing the taxpayer, these people are lifers on the fed payroll, the largest employer in the world!

Great idea. I always wondered why our state representatives have to live there. It’s 2019. Surely technology can carry out voting, etc. they can meet in each other’s states to call speakers or do it by Skype.
That way we can protest knowing they are inside if they vote against the citizens and lobbyists don’t have an easy group payoff.
Well Congress must stay -- remember they can only vote in person. But move out all the agencies. No reason FDA is in DC. Or EPA, HHS, Interior Dept, Treasury, etc. Move them where the cost of living is low and it's difficult for lobbyists to get to them. Spread them out! Too much concentration in DC.
Good point about using technology and Skype. A good use of this technology would be by the Hollywood liberals flying in their private jets to a climate change conference. Think of all the CO2 that wouldn’t pollute the skies. Then they fly back and tell us deplorable how we need to sacrifice to save the earth.
This is a good idea but it needs well thought out. I always felt de-centralizing the federal government would remove the concentration of lobbyists and money that corrupt politicians. It would also pose more of a problem for any enemy targeting us. My gut tells me that 50% of the federal workforce currently set in DC could be eliminated. The unions have always pushed for more workers, more money, more benefits. It became a monster that has grown out of hand. Cutting regulations, means we need less people, not more. The fewer this number, the smaller the deep state becomes. When you consider each state has a capital, each county has a seat of government, each city, township, borough has their own governmental offices. How much regulation and oversight do WE THE PEOPLE need? Far, far less than what we have. It's burdensome, wasteful and not what the founders had envisioned.
Consider too, that when our Senators and Congressmen leave their home turf and move to DC something happens. They lose touch with the people they serve. Temptation is placed before them at every turn to vote certain ways often contrary to the needs of the people they are supposed to serve. Politics should be mostly local and lobbyists should be outlawed. DC tends to insulate politicians from constituents while exposing them to forces outside their states. Maybe the current system worked better in 1776 when there were only a handful of states along the eastern seaboard with slow travel but it's not what we need today.

Well, any new DC would need to be re-built away from major fault lines such as New Madrid.

Agree, maybe Western VA

Or ...most of the stuff the federal government does should be given back to the states which would naturally decentralize it.
[–] Qdini [S] ago
Well some states like NY and CA would make it worse.....

just call lobbying what it really is, bribery, and it is already illegal
