You know it was funny when I made the red state move, I had bought some of the blue state bs just by infusion, and all the we are better, we are more educated, more traveled and cultured stuff. And then one night we were talking with our friends in my red state and mentioned having gone to Europe on our anniversary, which for us was a big trip, sort of once in a lifetime thing. Most of my red state neighbors had also been, then they mentioned other places they traveled to, and my wife and I realized that while we were paying 5% state taxes and $9k property taxes, our red state friends were travelling and seeing the world. Much better traveled than we were, it was an eye opener. Glad to see you are liking TX, my brother's there and loves the place.

I listened to a husband/wife from my lib home state complain for 10 years about it and kept saying "Come visit and check out TX". They finally did, moved 8 months later and absolutely adore it. I now am working on a 2nd couple from there; every time I talk with my friend she is moaning & complaining. They are road tripping this summer through conservative southern states to find the best one for them as she has a health condition triggered by weather. Happy to hear your brother loves it here! I do as well - it has totally captured my heart. I truly feel sorry for foreigners who visit the US - they all think they have to visit NYC, LA, DC and often DisneyWorld or Vegas. They totally miss the REAL America - the America which gave them President Donald J. Trump. Such a waste of a trip...they'll never see the true beauty & kindness of this great country by going to those places. Enjoy your fishing - and your happiness & sanity!
