Green Pine needles are tough to burn, trees and green needles are full of sap and moister. House lumber is dry, no moisture. Fires burn dry under brush and dry lower tree bark while leaving the pine needles green all the time. One year from now many of those green trees will be dead, brown and black top to bottom. Look close at the pictures, notice how black the tree bark is. Pine tree bark is brown and light gray not black. Only black after fire.
