Actually Thorium is as bad as Uranium if burnt in the existing light water reactor type. It's just crap. However Thorium combined with the next generation of reactor that was built (by some of the same people) at ORNL in the 50/60, called MSR(E) (Molten Salt Reactor Experiment) you can unleash its full potential. Furthermore, the MSR can burn EVERYTHING (Uranium, Thorium, Isotopes of it, Plutonium). Even spent fuel from LWR Reactors that would otherwise require 300000 years of storage. Only 300 years is required to store its trash.
