We won't know all of the results until tomorrow (or later, with mail-in and provisional ballots). Remember, the enemy of the people are desperately trying to spin and manipulate and other subtle forms of election interference, as usual. Have a few beers with the popcorn and chill. Also, remember 2016. It didn't look good for POTUS early on, and well, we know how that turned out.
If the D's do take the house, all is not lost. POTUS will just have to change tactics. He's not going to just roll over, and we shouldn't either. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Even if D’s take the house the newly elected reps won’t take office until after the new year.

I was trying to work out what your terrible comfort reminded me of: oh yes, the hideous papery pillow and blanket that some airlines give you.....

Bingo. A lot can happen in two months. FISA brings down the HOUSE. The D/R balance in the House might look quite different come January than it does tomorrow morning, after a bunch of Reps are indicted, and unable to take their seat.
Watch the Governorships. There will be a lot of unexpectedly empty seats to fill in Congress next year, for which the interims get to be appointed by their state's Governor. We need lots of R Governorships.
