I prefer they use live ammo and shoot to kill, send a strong message that their plot to invade this country will not be tolerated ... stop them by any and all means necessary.

WhyAserverWasBuilt is right. There are reporters infiltrated who have been getting some reports out & they've been gathering info. Many of those in the "caravan" are combat-aged males. The reporters estimate that about 10% are women, many with children...And you can bet your sweet bippy that the real combatants will keep that 10% out in front. Some of them are true refugees that should be allowed to reach the border checkpoints for vetting. Others have been getting paid in cash for joining the "caravan" & don't have proper "cover stories" to qualify them under the definition of Refugees (hint: "find a better job" & "escaping drug rings" doesn't cut it). Those who are actual combatants will try to spread out & cross the border some distance from where our military is positioned, if they can.

Now imagine the optics that WILL be used if the troops on the border have only lethal weapons. Perhaps some troops equipped with lethal weapons will be present, but will be under orders to use them only on obviously-armed & active combatants, while the non-lethal weapons are to discourage those who are not here to fight. It doesn't take a genius strategist in the military to figure out this much...

Agreed, but I am willing to bet that the men in the invasion are armed and will be the ones to shoot first. At this point it does not matter what happens because the leftist media will spin their hate filled attacks againsts conservatives and President Trump.

Exactly the election optics the left is looking for.

True, it's bullshit that the left would do this, but they will, we have to utilize force in a careful manner. The benefit to the ray, outside of it being non-lethal, is to an observer it doesn't look like much is happening in the same way firing tear gas or rubber bullets. If, hypothetically, the military deploys this, and it causes some of the protestors to start throwing stones, rocks and other items, visually, any action the military take after, utilization of gas, bean bags, or even live rounds, looks more defensible from an optics stand point.
