Young men need body cams nowadays... wtf happened

So weird. She gave him her number, then came back the next day and said she would go but he would have to put up with her friends being around.

There's nothing wrong with that, it's just chaperoning. I'd do the same if it was my daughter (actually I wouldn't even let her go). I homeschooled as well, all my kids are very successful in every way.
I had a girlfriend like that in high school, Lucky her dad didn't kill me. They love their kids, that is all. I shudder to think about what I put some dads through back then. Wasn't raised well at all.
I would consider it an honor to 'go out' with a girl like that. More than likely, she is a prize, well brought up.
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
Biblically, and the puritans and reformers held to this also, there was no 'interim' period where a young girl was not under the 'headship' and protection of a male, the daughter stayed at home until married where this headship was then transferred to the husband.
This seems crazy only because we have as a country / society, fallen so far. You will see though that there are many, if not most, male Voaters here on this forum, who would totally agree with this. So at least some progress is being made.
Also, arranged marriages were normal, albeit if a young girl did not love someone the situation was terminated. We certainly looked for mates for our kids within our own church and culture and social strata.
I could go on, I won't.

Women have always wanted it both ways: they want to get attention, to be complimented, to be desired, and to be approached. But only by certain men. If you give them tingles, you are welcomed. But if you don't get them wet (or, almost as good, have high status/money) you are guilty of sexual harassment. (And women accuse men of being shallow, and we buy it! This should make you realize the power of projection.)
It's always been like this, which can be (though no one really cares) brutal on men. Unfortunately, nowadays legal and political weapons have upped the fear of rejection by an order of magnitude or two. I feel for your son.
Mothers like you who stand up for the men in their lives is what we need to turn this around. Otherwise men will continue to turn away. Women take note: though life is much more pleasant with you, men can easily get by without you, but the converse is not true.

She didn’t say yes or no. She gave him her number and asked him to text her. He asked her face to face. I don’t know. She seems a little sheltered. But I feel so bad for our sons! He has to put it in writing? Bizarro world.

In writing aint so bad. Just think of what might happen to your son 36 years later.

Exactly. He is very aware of Kavanaugh.

Wtf kind of young lady would rather be asked to a dance by text than in person? He should ask someone else to the dance and not waste any more time on this lady, IMHO. As a woman, I don't understand the mind games girls play with boys these days then turn around and act like royal bitches when the guys they like play games with them. Just stop playing mind games on both side! She either wants to go to the dance with him or she doesn't.

I think she’s socially awkward with helicopter parents. Don’t know.
