The thing that bothers me about this is that it is your land. Let us say people make it great, what stops you from kicking them off and selling for a profit?

This is way better. Thank you. This intrigues me.

Coopzy is spot on. The meetup will probably be on my land because I'll probably be the first one buying. The 2017 meetup, if we have it, will defintiely be at my West Texas property because there just won't be another place ready in time. The improvements I want to do on that one (which I would gladly accept help with) are to get it to a point where a weekend meetup is possible without scratching up paint, popping tires, and not having a private place for people to poop. And yes, that would raise the value of my land some and would be to my benefit. I'm also not really sure how you could do work on land and not have it be to someone's benefit. For the record, I bought those ten acres for $2,500 and that is pretty much the going rate in the area. The mesquite bushes are a real pain and it's very sandy.

But, you bring up a very good point that has been my main concern from the beginning. I don't want to buy a large property, have free work done on it, and then subdivide it. I am looking for a place where land is cheap enough that a number of people can buy lots outright, ideally adjoining, and they own the improvements to their land.

I want to start a liberty minded neighborhood, not the next big Galt's Gulch Chile scam.

I am very intrigued by this. I doubt I will be able to make the meet up 2017 nor do I think it would be appropriate as I am an unknown. I deleted this account and am logged into home computer but I will make an account and get to know you guys. I would prefer somewhere more north so that there are actual seasons instead of just hot. I really like your sub.

@Tor1 do you want to come out to this one? What about the 2017 one if we get enough interest?

Still working on my logistics. I'm never very flexible as far as scheduling, seeing if there's a way to be passing through sometime, so I can get a lay of the land.

Unless things change, I have no way to know in advance when I can even leave my house for more than a few hours at a time.

My sister in Austin sometimes comes through, but she's dealing with a new school year right now. My sister that lives nearby in the Houston area has older kids than me, and their high school just got flooded out by a foot of water. She's also hit or miss. Almost totally miss really, except if I want to head over and hangout.

Her ex husbands house had the San Jacinto come up only ten feet away, so I've been busy helping him with that until yesterday. Its a couple of feet below 500 year flood level now finally. Lake Houston too is a full two feet lower than 500 year flooding. Fingers crossed, things are going to improve.

I can't give out my post office box because I'm not sure if its traceable. I've gotta burner number to text from its seven zero 2 seven 3 4 zero 8 4 7 if anyone needs me and doesn't have Voat handy. You can call it too, but I never have the ringer turned on. I'll see it as a missed call eventually. I can also be emailed at goatsgulch@gmx.com. Keep in mind that caller ID and email headers are visible on my end, not that anythings going to happen.

Of course I am interested in this. Who wouldn't be. One problem is going to be we're all so far apart. My problem is I'm already committed to a fixed location, and couldn't easily physically get there unless it was nearby in Montgomery or Harris County TX, which is 9 hours away.

Wow, it sounds like the flood has gotten you pretty badly. Do you think it's finally starting to receed?

Ha, gmx.com. Isn't that what Satoshi used? I wonder if by some luck we can get a caravan from Houston. Maybe not this year but by next year it seems possible.

I hope we can do some kind of live broadcast at a certain time during the meetup so you can watch along if you can't make it out. You've put a ton of time into this and I'd like to help let you be a part of it in any way possible.
