I'm not intending for this post to get any traction or visibility. It's a meta post, intended to help define the initial parameters of Goat's Gulch.
/u/coopzy and I are intending to start this as a near-term (next couple of years) project to start a "village" or sorts in the US. /v/newcountryproject was intended to determine viability of starting a country, not a town or a village. And we've done that a decent amount, explored many options to a fair extent. And none of them are straight forward enough for us to approach in the next while. /v/goatsgulch should be the next step, whether or not it turns into a country or we start a country from there. If we can get some exceptional people out in one area our effectiveness will increase. And no matter what, hopefully we'll start something special. And hopefully not the only of such villages.
- Good community.
Now, this project could go on forever. I want it to actually happen so I want to limit the scope as fast as possible. While New Country Project was for determining viability of places for a country, Goat's Gulch is about determining viability of a smaller area. Determining which area, say 2x2 miles, is the best for multiple Goats to buy properties in. Big enough that there's realistic chance of multiple properties being on the market and small enough that an actual community can form.
I'm going to go ahead and say this must be in the US. I already have two regions in mind but before locking into those, I want to have some consensus that it's a good area to lock our focus into. At the moment I propose picking from West Texas or Wyoming. I already have some property in West Texas that could be a viable area, however I hope we can find an even better place.
Lastly, I give my thanks to /u/Tor1 for letting us repurpose this subverse.
