Huh?
You mixing Smith up with Young?
Smith was basically a Millerite in The Palmyra area of Western New York. The holy golden Tablets are near Rochester. Never went there but knew lots of Mormons who did. They want you to think that he had visions and was guided by an angel though. Funny how where the tablets are buried it happens to be sacred Indian grounds. So no digging.
I never bothered with learning about Young. So you could be right about him moving from Vermont.
They got some good Jesus stories and believe that the annunaki or something like that lived in the Americas. Good good stuff that the Scientologist probably plagiarized for creating zenu.

Joseph Smith (not John) started out in the New England area, and as the LDS church was growing, they moved more west. He was killed by a mob in Illinois (or near there), after which Brigham Young became the 2nd prophet (and some break-away groups formed over dispute on who the rightful prophet should be after Smith). Young lead the Mormon pioneers further West until they got to the Salt Lake Valley, and founded Salt Lake City. Members were told to settle lands further north and south. Also, a lot of missionaries were sent to Europe, mostly England. They then made the trek across the country to Utah (though it was more Deseret back then). That's the basic gist of why there is a lot of British in Utah and surrounding.
A lot of my family is Mormon, and ancestors on my mother's side were part of the Mormon pioneers back then. I am mostly of British ancestry, so I fit that British bill shown on the map.
