Neil Druckmann is hopeful that Naughty Dog's future games can do more in the area of character diversity. In a wide-ranging interview with The Frame, Druckmann said it is "absolutely" important that characters in Naughty Dog games are women and people of color.

When did "diversity" come to mean "black women"? That aside, when picking a protagonist for your games you should probably stick with something your core demographic can relate to. How many black chicks play "Uncharted"? Hell I never managed to get into GTA:SA because I could not relate to the protagonist at all.

When did "diversity" come to mean "black women"?

Black female feminists (Kimberlé Crenshaw in specific) created intersectional feminism which acts as a starting point for most of the SJW mess we're familiar with today.

Naturally, this flavor of feminism believes black women are the most oppressed so they get to be at the top of the hierarchy when it comes to handing out rights and privileges in the new order.

More fundamentally, why do these people believe relating to a protagonist requires one to be the same sex, race, etc.?

It's not a game but I can pretty much relate to all four main characters in the movie "Trading Places".

These people have zero empathy or imagination. Their view of life and the world is so incredibly superficial it is astounding.

Beacuse they cant have it when its not about them.

In order to realate to me the partagonist would have to be a insecure social akward cripple browsing shitty internet forums all day.

Sounds like a fun game doesnt it?

I can realte to CJ just as much a to Lara or Aiden Pearce.
