To be honest, No. Read something else, the books are filled with minor details and huge sections of little conflict or plot. It's great if you love referencing passages, appendices and maps to speculate and predict what will happen. The show is great for asoiaf because it takes all the description and foreshadowing and turns it into visuals and suspense.
