I bought this game when it came out. I remember how amazing it felt to see how much they improved upon Super Mario Land in just about every way, even cramming a bunch of stuff from Super Mario World (new at the time). Finding all the secret exits was fun and challenging.
The thing that struck me as odd was how many of the regular stages and bosses are super easy. Even ridiculously easy. And then, the last stage in Wario's Castle, the difficulty cranks up to an obscenely high level! I knew a lot of kids that couldn't beat that last stage and would rage-quit or rage-throw the cart away.
I recently played through it again on my GBC and wondered how others felt about the game, both those who had it in the day and those first messing with it now as retrogamers.
What are your thoughts on Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins? When did you first play it?
