Ah, yeah I might not have used the best words. I just meant fanatical in the sense of enthusiasm and dedication to the game.

I think the aesthetics and the music are probably what pulled most people in to begin with, though I agree that the emotional investment is really what has caused so many people to love the game. The writing and the secrets all have so much to offer that it leaves players with a constant sense of wonderment, while the game mechanics tend to encourage empathy and forgiveness, which is really beautiful.
