If you decide to delete Google from your life, too, let us know how it goes on our Facebook page.

Really? If you're still on facebook, then what is the point of "deleting" google? Jeez...

PC World is decades-old, stodgy, mostly for corporate types. That they're covering anti-Google sentiment at all is a sign that the Overton window is sliding. But if you're looking for LineageOS/CyanogenMod installation instructions for your device, yeah, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Another reason to get rid of Google is make your choice as a consumer for a healthier, more responsible media. As a working journalist, I’m acutely aware that Google and Facebook jointly dominate the media distribution and discovery landscape. With no strong competitors to Google Search in particular, Google’s algorithms hold unprecedented sway over the discourse in our society.

How cute. I bet he considers himself an Authorized Journalist and everything.

Best thing about the Google Memo is that the Lugenpresse have decided it's time to take all their resentment of El Goog and go on the offensive. The enemy of my enemy is not my friend, or even a temporary ally. But when they tear each other apart, I'll cheer and make popcorn.

Check the date. This article predates the Google Memo incident by a couple of months. People have been getting sick of Google for a lot of reasons.

I don't known what's the issue with searching.

With another engine it takes a few moments longer, gives better and more unique results and is far more satisfying.

Why does everyone need google maps? Does everyone get lost now.

How did people ever get anywhere before internet and cell phones?

Accurate traffic reporting to know when I need to leave for work.

Does everyone get lost now.

That's absolutely the case, yes. Maybe you don't hang out with young people. Absolutely clueless about major roads in their own city.

Still, Google Maps is really useful when in a place you never went before.

But there are like 5 other map softwares out there that are equal or better.

I don't even know the names of streets or highways outside of my neighborhood. It's all visual memory or GPS otherwise. Older folks sometimes approach me with "Do you know how to get to East Buttfuck Boulevard?" hell if I know - you have a phone, right?

I would love to see one of these for someone with a Verizon S5. It took an act of fucking congress just to get root - getting Cyanogen on here would probably involve dimensional and/or rectal tearing.

Not to mention that even though I am using Proton Mail and DDG, I'm pretty heavy into the Play Store. :(

You're still better off than if you had an AT&T S5 on marshmallow.

if you’re not a paying customer then you’re the product being sold

And if you are a paying customer then they know how much you are willing to pay them to sell you.
