Why are users who don't pay Voat freeloaders? Users create all the content. Most websites want you to come to their site and generate a lot of traffic.
They already went beyond a community site that is funded by donations. Taking that interest away from the community and without any discussion, they incorporated and sought investors. You don't donate to a business.
Furthermore, the "team" of admins have largely abandoned their project. If they are going to run out of money, they should have fixed their business model. Yet, I don't see them selling premium membership with extra features. I don't see them empowering users to help with certain administrative functions (e.g. subverse request processing) to keep the site moving and growing.
You may say this post doesn't fit with your already established goal of financing Voat, but I believe there are more users like me that need to hear the logic for giving money to Voat before going through with what you propose.
