This is great, I didn't know it was a thing until I saw it on the list of new posts. I'd appreciate it if you posted updates once in awhile.

Yeah, I subbed and will see what I can make time for. Winter is fast approaching, so I'm home more often and indoors more often.

We shall see, though I'm not sure what types of 'news' are best.

I subbed too. I will be making a video series of small town, rural and farm life and wondered where I could find locations, ideas, etc. I'll be checking back very often. :-)

I'm not a farmer. But, weirdly, I like to know about farming

Farming is kind of awesome. I don't have much in the way of my own animals. I do have some chickens that are no longer viable laying hens. They just kind of live here, so I built them a house. They meandered over from the neighboring farm and have been here ever since. They amuse me greatly.

Chickens are cool, and they love people. Should get yourself some more! Nothing beats eggs from your back yard.

Venison, moose, bear, rabbit, wild turkey, duck, partridge, brook trout, brown trout, Atlantic salmon, and I get chicken, eggs, turkey, beef, and pork from the neighboring farm.

I didn't know how to do any of this stuff when I moved here. Now, I process and preserve it all myself. I even help harvest the critters at the farm - sometimes I help and they're not even something that's going to end up on my plate. I can do most serviceable cuts. I could use some more teaching in that department.

/v/justgrowit would love your posts. It's mostly garden related, but I'm sure everyone would love your blueberry fields as well.

I'll take a look and sub, if it's interesting. Thanks!

Born and raised on the farm. Always nice to see stone fellow harvesters

I have trees and blueberries - and unproductive chickens. I do have a huge garden and work on the neighboring farm for my own amusement and education.

They actually have been talking about selling the farm. I'm tempted. The price they mentioned is fantastic, it's another 4500 acres. Most of the acreage is potentially multi-use.

I'm in the process of turning a little over an acre into a farm for cold hardy root stock and cutting production.

This sub should be more active.

I raise hogs. Most of my land is hard wood. I'm using the pigs to help clear parts of it. I've got a bunch of chickens and am clearing a sugar bush. Starting to look at cord wood sales.

This sub should be much more active, methinks...

I'm doing a sort of AMA over in v/justgrowit if you're curious. There's lots of pics and text.
