Lift. Improve yourself physically. Diet. Walk. Run. I'm not saying you have to pick up mountains, shoot for competitions or run six miles. Just move around and start feeding yourself better. You're only getting older now and it never hurts to get stronger.

Things less physically stressing would be gardening, reading and cooking. The great thing about gardening is that if you have a decent plot of land it may as well be called farming. Properly cultivating soil and getting your own crops going is physically demanding and is the most classic way to improve the body through the rigors of land work. There's a satisfaction in waking up sore after a days work in the field.

Exactly. Improve your fitness so you'll be in peak condition when the war comes
