So the picture I'm getting is guy was Iranian by ethnicity and likely culturally Shia but probably non-religious.
His Dad's youtube account and google+ account can be seen online still. Doesn't seem like a religious family.
Daily Mail reports he was bullied by Turks and Arabs in his class.
On the roof he said something like "It's because of you I was bullied for seven years".
It could be he was bullied because he was culturally Shia in a class of Sunni or it could be because he was a bit of an odd-ball.
Maybe it was a bit of both. He had received psychiatric help.
He lived in a "multicultural" area. Watching the media interview his neighbours, you'd think this happened in Turkey.
He didn't research other mass shootings because "he was fascinated by mass shootings" like the media is pretending.
He researched them to learn how to conduct one.
Anders Breivik's manifesto gives a lot of instruction on how to pull one off, where to get weapons etc.
He also researched other mass shootings including one in Germany a few years back.
This isn't being reported in the media. They just keep saying "he was a fan of Breivik".
Eye witness accounts said he targetted "foreigners in McDonalds".
That's why the media was going with the "white supremacist" angle.
He targeted them because they were in his class and bullied him.

So in other words Europe has imported the old violent antagonism between Shias and Sunnis. Ali vs Mohamed.
