People are saying keep it open for achieve purposes but close off submissions. Look, I hate to tell you guys but this voat thing is not looking too promising. The "visiting now" numbers are not accurate. This sub is down to 6k views a day. On reddit we were getting 70k. That's a huge difference.

If you want to close /r/european off to submissions you're effectively killing that sub and relying entirely on this one. Only a small proportion of people moved here from reddit and the numbers actually sticking around seem to be declining by the day. This is not a good scenario. We will likely end up with 1 dead sub and 1 sub that's barely active in comparison to where /r/european was.

As much as people dislike reddit it's a far bigger site with far bigger potential even if we're quaratined. Voat may eventually pick up but right now it is 0.5% of the size or reddit. Do people seriously want to put all their eggs in voat?

I completely disagree. It's a growing community. You cannot expect it to have the same amount of traffic or users as an establishes site. And during its existence it's shown constant growth.

It's a huge difference, but numbers of views aren't everything. Let us not forget that not too long ago /r/european had the same amount of subs that we have now. So lower subscriber amounts don't really tell all that much about the future.

Now this thread was not meant for us mods to chime in on. I probably should have made that clear. I want the community to say what they think without influences from us moderators. Whatever is said in this thread should be unaffected by our views. We can then take the things said here into consideration and see what we end up doing.

Numbers are incredibly important if you want people to see what's on the sub and spread information across reddit and to other sites. If you purely want somewhere to chat with like-minded people, no matter how few, then numbers don't matter.

Let us not forget that not too long ago /r/european had the same amount of subs that we have now.

We grew on reddit precisely because reddit is a huge size with over 1 billion hits a per month. We grew off or reddit. This site is 0.5% of the size. The ability to grow on this sub is very small as other subs that have come here have proven.

Now this thread was not meant for us mods to chime in on. I probably should have made that clear.

We need to chime in because the users are not getting the full picture. They will think the numbers in the sidebar are accurate which will make them think this sub is more viable than it is. They also don't know the numbers we were getting on reddit. You cannot expect them to make informed decisions if they're not getting all the information. It's impossible.

I agree with you that it might trail off here but we might as well give it a shot. If you look at r/coontown and r/fatpeoplehate, they were two subs much, much bigger than ours and caused way more drama when they were banned. They moved here and look at them now. v/niggers is practically a ghost town and v/fatpeoplehate aren't doing great trade by any stretch.

In light of this, I would not be opposed to a new sub on reddit with the same anti-censorship agenda. However slurs should be banned and no stickys about rats getting shot at in a cupboard while being called Jews. That shit was ridiculous. I have requested an abandoned sub which might be good.

With I saw this.
