  • Greece "extortion" might galvanize the rest of europe and there could be reconciliation with greece in the next couple of years as well. I believe greece will go belly up and it will suck for it's people but that example of "see what happens, when you do things the wrong way for too long" might be very valuable for so many european countries. Tough problems sometimes teach you valuable lessons that you might remember for a few years.

  • I see Russian bullying as a sign of weakness by the current government. They are using a propped up enemy in Europe to consolidate their power withing Russia. While they really can do damage no matter their motivation I don't think they are crazy enough to push it too far. Also, again when faced with the problem of dependance on their resources it is possible that europe will finally look long and hard at alternatives that might provide beneficial in the long run. Diversifying your energy production/import through alternative sources of energy and alternative sources of fossil fuels will help.

  • In a lot of european countries birthrates are dwindling. Immigrants are not per se a bad thing. Integrate them properly and you will benefit. Tough for a lot of people but as with the other things, still very well possible.

  • The UK can either get with the program or go isolate on their damp island as far as I am concerned. As with the Greek example I think that the EU will actually take a step forward through it all and either the UK will get with it or they will be left out of the fast lane in a "europe of two speeds" kind of thing. Either way, it will get easier to get shit done and enforce rules in the EU soon.

Also and this not as related to Europe itself:

Even with Obama who was pushing hard to get things done in the US for a while, the US kept stepping on its meat and I hope that changes but I don't see it. It's not like they are doing all that much better.

The other major power: China. Chinese stocks have taken a nosedive as of late, losing as much value as the entire UK GDP. I think dealing with a possible Grexit actually doesn't look all that bad.

To summarize: there are ways to go and adress all the problems facing europe. Not like shit is all that much better everywhere else.

It doesn't help at all if you are just sitting around listening to the media and pooping your pants because soon the world will end. People in all periods of time will have thought that and it hasn't ended yet. And if it were to end, well might as well give it your all till the end.

I agree the world is not about to end and things will carry on for Europe. I guess I just wonder how these issues will affect the political/cultural/economic position of Europe in the world. It's true that things change fast and that these issues might be small in comparison what could happen / is happening in other places but it does seem that these days the leaders of Europe have a lot on their plate.
