Yeah, RES was the one thing that made me a regular on reddit.

RES was almost the only thing that kept me on Reddit, haha, one of the first subverses I searched for was /v/enhancement :)

Yessss.... awesome.

I wonder if voat will be more receptive to making changes for the userbase so things like VES aren't necessary?

I mean, on that other site, it seems like a large majority of people used RES. So why not just take the features of RES and add them to the site? Seems like a no brainer.

One of Voat's major improvements over reddit is the inclusion of a number of RES features innately (like inline images/image expandos). Voat is extremely receptive to suggestions—Atko is one of the friendliest and most open devs I've heard of. However, there will always be features that would be more suitable for a client-side program, or that would be unnecessary for most users/unreasonable on the server side.

Do people want inline images? Of course! Was it difficult to add some code to have the client fetch those images when they're wanted? No—so the code to get those images was included in Voat's source, and the site itself doesn't need to do much.

Would people want to tag other users? Probably. Would it make sense to store tags a user created on Voat's servers? Not really—so store the the tags in the user's browser.

Would people want to navigate with a keyboard? Most people wouldn't even think about that, and mobile devices don't have keyboards to navigate with.

And it would be much quicker to implement minor suggestions in an optional script/extension. I keep tabs on /v/ideasforvoat and /v/voatdev for things that people are interested in and that could be quickly coded. The server-side Voat devs do a lot of incredible work and should be concerned with major stuff, like up-scaling Voat's infrastructure and optimizing the site as a whole.

Does Voat really have inline images or am I missing something? I know on Reddit with RES installed I'd get a button at the top of my page that said "View all Images". That was the main/only reason I used it. So I could click that button and all images posts on the page would auto open so I could scroll down and view them all at once. Does Voat have this feature and I'm missing it?

I think after inline images, user tags is my #1 fave feature of RES.

It would be cool if they just implemented it as part of the site, but I get what you're saying.

is there a way to get it to "show all content"? Or a never ending stream of a page?

What do you mean by "Show all content"? And yes, an autoload-next-page feature is already in the works.
