This is my first review of anything, ever. So be gentle.
I recently lost my vaping setup. A Smok M80. Gave it to a guy to hit and then I walked away without it. Have not seen him since. That is probably fine, as the temp control was worthless and it had not burned my house down yet while charging.
I had gotten the smok as a replacement for my sigelei 100W Plus that had suddenly died, which replaced an iStick20w that i still have.
The Smok was disappointing as the temp control didn't work and it seemed the power draw couldn't actually push my Arctic tank hard enough to have good vapor production. Worked fine on my Kanertech subtank mini, but I digress.
Joytech has done a wonderful job on their new offering(so far).
The fit and finish is great. When i shake it, nothing moves. The fire button feels nice. The selector switch on top is a little awkward to use one handed. Otherwise, the device is a great fit for my hand.
The finish is very nice and smooth. It is painted with automotive quality paint with some metal flaking for texture and color depth. I am more of a fan of anodizing aluminum, but for this purpose, the paint is done very nicely.
The controls are, as i said, awkward to use. Adjusting it while driving (as I did) is not recommended. Three rapid clicks on the firing button will unlock the menu. In the menu, you can switch between Wattage mode (non temp controlled) and two temp controlled modes (one for Ni and one for Ti). The temperature is adjustable (of course) in both temp modes, with wattage appearing below (also adjustable). Atomizer resistance is also lockable or variable (whichever you chose).
I am currently using Ni coil on top of the eGo one Mega it came with. I am very pleased with it so far. Great vapor production. Temperature controlled is very effective. I can not hit it long enough for it to heat up. Have had zero issues with liquid transfer onto the coils during heavy use. No dry hits so far.
Going into wattage mode turns this box into a beast that is very reminiscent of my old sigelei. I think i'll stick to temp control for now.
There are a few features that drew me to this platform over all others.
Temp control - Obvious benefits are obvious
huge screen. Dim in direct sunlight, but that is an issue with oleds in general, not just this one.
Integrated battery - Most people hate integrated batteries, I tend to prefer them as they usually allow for a smaller device with more MaH. Now, when this battery goes, I have no issue throwing it away, But honestly, i'll likely lose or break the device before that is ever an issue.
Size - It is a tad bigger then devices using one 18650, but very much smaller then a Dual battery 18650 device. All the edges are rounded and comfy in my pocket.
Pass through charging - We will see if i continue to love this feature or if it burns my house down eventually
eGo ONE Mega - this atomizer comes with it. It is actually my most favorite that I have ever used. The mini nautilus I have on my istick... not even going to compare it as it is a low wattage setup (hate those). My arctic subtank always tasted like shit for a whole tank after changing coils, but would do high wattage. My kangertech subtank mini always hit great, but the wattage would not go very high, and it would "bleed" if left in the sunlight. This one does great @ 60w and also does not taste like shit(looking at you arctic).
Likewise, there are a few negative things
what the living fuck were they thinking with menu navigation. it is neither intuitive or simple.
high gloss cover is sure to show every smudge on it
fucking heavy. what is this thing made of, uranium?
Anyways, If you are on the fence and your goals are low price, temperature control, and pass through charging - This is what I would recommend.
