But it wasn't the military that went to the Middle East and okayed the Qatar situation a few days before it happened. That was him. And people close to Gen Mattis is saying he wants nothing to do with this escalation but it is being pushed from within the administration over his head.

I'm no Trump fanboy, but I voted for him primarily because of his promise to avoid getting involved in foreign conflicts. And now he's headed in the opposite direction... I didn't vote for this shit, and I'm NOT getting conscripted or paying taxes for some corporate lobbyist's war.
